Your Pet's Surgery

Our Surgical Services

Our Surgical ServicesWe understand that surgery is not an easy experience for you or your pet. At Progressive Animal Wellness we strive to ensure your pet’s surgical procedure is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We provide our clients with a clear understanding of why procedures are necessary, what they entail, proper post-operative care, and any other information our clients might need to make the best decision for their pets.

We are proud of the quality of our surgical care and the wide range of surgical procedures we provide. The HEPA filtration system in our surgical suite purifies the air, limiting the presence of bacteria and infectious particles and reducing the chance of post-surgical infections. Beyond spay and neuter surgeries, PAW performs an array of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, as well as biopsies and cancer staging. In some complex orthopedic cases, an orthopedic surgical specialist will perform the procedure at our hospital.

Anesthesia & Monitoring

Anesthesia and cardiovascular monitoring are integral aspects of every surgery we perform. For this reason, we provide the best and most advanced anesthetic administration and cardiovascular monitoring, equipment, and protocols.

Before administering anesthesia, we examine and perform a pre-surgical blood screen on all pets. Combining the results of these tests with a pet’s past anesthetic history, breed, preexisting conditions, and age, we create an individualized anesthesia protocol. We also provide pets with pain relievers and anti-anxiety medications prior to surgery.

During anesthesia and surgery, our trained veterinary technicians use our advanced system to constantly monitor arterial oxygen level, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and core body temperature. We also apply heat therapy to ensure a safe body temperature is maintained throughout and following the procedure.

Pain Management

PAW believes that identifying and relieving pain is essential to a pet’s recovery. Therefore, pain management is an important aspect of our intra- and post-surgical protocols. Our advanced techniques include continuous rate infusions, fentanyl patches, and bolus therapy of opioids and anxiolytics.
